HomeWarming Advisory Council

AHANS is pleased to announce that we have been invited to participate in the Council.

The mandate of the HomeWarming Advisory Council is:

To offer a forum for sharing information about the program; both electrical and non-electrical; and to,

Facilitate discussion between the members of the HomeWarming Advisory Council, Clean Foundation and Efficiency Nova Scotia concerning successes, challenges and opportunities for the program; both electrical and non-electrical.

The program is administered collaboratively by Efficiency Nova Scotia (ENS) and Clean Foundation (Clean). Upgrades to electrically-heated homes are now funded through Emerea shareholders and administered by Clean.

Other Member Organizations Are:

Housing Nova Scotia

Community Society to End Poverty in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Department of Community Services

Native Council of Nova Scotia

United Way

The RRAB is pleased to announce that they have recommended the following three organizations for project funding to address homelessness in their communities under Employment and Social Development Canada’s Homelessness Partnering Strategy:

Split Rock Learning Centre Association - based in Yarmouth
Canadian Mental Health Association, Kings County Branch - based in Kings County
Native Council of Nova Scotia - based in Truro

The Board received several requests for projects that would require almost 3 times the amount of available funding, giving the RRAB very difficult decisions to make and leaving many worthwhile projects unfunded.
