24-hour Homelessness Snapshot in HRM

Halifax, NS — In partnership with the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre, we conducted the 2025 Point-in-Time (PiT) Count. For the first time, the PiT Count will now take place annually. A numerical count will be conducted each year, with a full survey component included every second year.


Homelessness encapment located in HRM

In 2024, the Point-in-Time Count recorded a minimum of 1,132 individuals experiencing homelessness across the Halifax Regional Municipality. On the night of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, a team of 52 volunteers, supported by more than 15 participating agencies, conducted a thorough count. The results of individuals experiencing homelessness in 2025, will be released in November.
